French Bulldog - Medium - Adult - na - Dog - Curly Charlie
Description
Charlie is a low to moderate energy gentleman.  He is a very affectionate little guy.  He is a bit submissive, stops moving, lowers his head and rolls over with any fast hand movements close to his head.  Playing rough house with him just makes him frightened.  So, somebody was not very nice to him.  He is becoming more confident and wags his tail and bounces around when he sees us rough housing with our other dog. In time, I am sure he will be ready to join in.  He gets along well with other dogs but is more into people.  He does fine with a confidant kitty and naps with ours. Our other kitty is a fraidy cat and runs, so Charlie will chase when given opportunity.  Charlie loves his walks and does a pretty good job with heel.  He knows sit.  He is torn about coming when called. He will run forward then get nervous and back off.  He is very treat motivated.  As he learns something good will happen (a good belly rub or a treat is given) he becomes better at coming. So never call him with the intention of scolding him.  He needs to know that something good happens EVERY time he comes.  Someday this may save his life.  He watches us eat people food intently, sits and stares so he has been fed human food in the past.  He will eat too much too fast given the chance and if he is indulged this way, he will vomit a little.   He loves his various beds and knows what 'go to bed' means. I sleep with our other dog so tried sleeping with Charlie in my bed.  Left to his own devices with free rein at night makes him worry and he whimpers a little. So, a nice safe enclosed crate makes for secure good sleeping for him.Charlie will need close supervision and structure with regard to potty in the beginning.  Clear gentle guidance with regard to where he should be going potty with frequent visits outside has worked.  Confining him to a un-carpeted small area of your home when he will not be in your eyesight will be best in the beginning.  He was confused to start with because he had too much free rein and had some accidents.  This has now changed. He just needed to know what was expected.Charlie does great with his baths.  A bath is not his favorite thing but he will sit obediently for it and allows his nails to be trimmed with no fuss.  He races around the house giddily rolling all over everything after his bath.  He a dear sweet little fellow.
