Project manager with Pulsed Power experience-USA Green Jobs Now.Org Nationwide search for Livermore, CA The Engineering Directorate/National Security Engineering Division (ENG/NSED) has two openings for experienced program/project managers with expertise in pulsed power to manage a broad range of activities, including overall responsibility for developing and administering budgets, schedules, and performance standards for large programmatic efforts. The selected candidate(s) will manage teams consisting of first level managers, engineers, technical associates and technicians to direct multi-year, multi-million dollar projects. Exemplary candidates will possess extensive experience in multiple areas of the following technologies: pulsed power (delivering Mega-Joules of electrical energy in less than a millisecond), high power radio frequency or microwave systems, lightning protection, grounding and shielding under extreme electromagnetic interference conditions, or associated diagnostic/instrumentation systems. The selected candidate(s) will work with minimal direction in support of programs within the WCI Directorate, the National Ignition Facility, and the Global Security Directorate. He/she will be expected to play a prominent role in conceiving and directing the development of leading edge technology device and instrumentation systems for field deployment. Successful candidates will report to the NSED Division Leader and will interact at the highest levels of Engineering and LLNL Program management, as well as with external sponsor and collaborators to develop and establish Programmatic strategies and operational policies. Go to http://www.USAgreenjobsnow.Org or e mail hr@usagreenjobsnow.org ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Develop and execute long term strategies for pulsed power technology development, including infrastructure investments, through collaborations with Program Leaders and Engineering management. - Direct programmatic efforts to design laboratory and field experiments and the associated controls, instrumentation, and diagnostics. - Serve as a subject matter expert representing LLNL and programs in interactions with external sponsors and NNSA representatives. - Establish operational objectives and work plans and delegate assignments to subordinate managers. - Direct pulsed power activities related to fielding and execution of experiments and/or measurement campaigns. - Manage multi-disciplinary project teams (mechanical and electrical engineering, physics, chemistry) to solve complex technical problems of national importance such as the NIF and the Phoenix Program. - Provide management oversight for design/peer reviews of work to ensure that the experiments/tests, hardware, and data acquisition systems are safe and the experimental designs are technically sound. - Provide technical oversight to external contractors fabricating customized electrical equipment and experimental assemblies for experimental programs. - Model/simulate the electrical performance of system components under dynamic electrical loads and/or harsh electromagnetic interference conditions and make design recommendations to improve performance. - Design experiments to answer specific technical questions. This may involve hardware, instrumentation, and data acquisition design. - Document activities and results in formal reports; present the results for sponsor reviews. - Adhere to the highest standards of personnel and facility safety in performing tests and experiments. - Serve as a principal mentor to help develop and train new personnel.
