How to Raise Rats:
Choose a time during the week to manage your rats. It takes less than an hour. I choose Saturday morning. Put one adult female in the mating bin with the male. Keep 3 or 4 females in mating bin at all times. Take out one pregnant female from the mating bin each week and put her in her own bin. Ween the litters at 21 days and place in their own bin. Put the female back in with male. Fill water reservoir, dump bedding in trash and put in new bedding. Pour a weeks worth of food on screen. Check in next week. You will probably check in more often because it is fun to watch them grow. They grow quickly to adults in 10 weeks.

With 1 Male and 7 females and following a weekly rotation you can produce 1 litter a week with 10 to 15 per litter. Conservatively about 600 per year.
This uses about 5 bins and the other 3 are used to grow out litters.
